Massive MIMO Technology for 5G Networks

Hello friends,

Today in this post i am going to talk about Massive MIMO Technology which is used for upcoming 5G network. This is not any new technology but this technology is used for new purpose i.e for 5G network testing.

Now a days mobile user is increasing day by day and also people get bored with 4G technology because as the 4G network user are increasing day by day due to this many people are facing issues like call drop and slow internet due to busy network. MIMO technology solve this issue, how?? that we will see in this post. Lets us start with learning of MIMO Technology.

πŸ‘‰ What is MIMO ?

>    MIMO stands for Multiple Input Multiple Output. MIMO is based on single principle that is "a wireless network that allows the transmitting and receiving of more than one data signal simultaneously over a same radio channel".

Standard MIMO technology tends to use two or four antennas.

πŸ‘‰ What is Massive MIMO ?

>     Massive MIMO is a Massive version of MIMO which has more number of antennas as compare to standard MIMO networks.  Here, Huawei, ZTE, and Facebook have demonstrated Massive MIMO systems with as many as 96 to 128 antennas.

MIMO signals need to physically pack more antennas into a small area, they require the use of higher frequencies than current mobile network standards

πŸ‘‰ How MIMO use in 5G Network ?

>     We are already using MIMO technology in WIFI and 4G Networks but these MIMO's technology are standard MIMO technology. It is widely expected that Massive MIMO will be a key enabler component of 5G. One of the key roles of any 5G network will be to handle the huge increase in data usage that's around the corner.

Cisco estimate that in 2020 when 5G is rolled out there will be 5.5 billion mobile users around the world and each person will use 20 GB data per month.  In MIMO networks they will install multiple antennas on a single antennas for transmitting or receiving the signal.

πŸ‘‰ Advantages of Massive MIMO technology:

> The advantage of a MIMO network over a regular one is that it can multiply the capacity of a wireless connection without requiring more spectrum
> The more antennas the transmitter or receiver equipped with the more the possible signal paths and the better the performance in terms of data rate and link reliability.

> Massive MIMO network will more responsive to devices transmitting in higher frequency bands, which will improve network coverage.
> As the number of antennas increases in MIMO network helps to provide more resistance from interference and intentional jamming of network as compare to current networking system.
> Massive MIMO uses beamforming Technology that handles network more smartly and efficiently so that the data speed and latency become more uniform across the network.

At the time of VIVO IPL 2018, Massive MIMO technology is deploy by Airtel in Wankhede stadium in Mumbai. Similarly this Pre 5G Massive MIMO Technology is deploy by JIO at Delhi and Mumbai stadium. On 7th June 2018 Airtel has announced to deploy & 7000 new mobile site that will include large scale pre 5G Massive MIMO Technology.

Massive MIMO technology is already used in Japan and China for 4G LTE network.
On September 2017, Ericssion has announced the launch of new Frequency Division Duplexing (FDD) with the help of 5G and Massive MIMO. This technology can be used by 4G mobile user but it will work at 4G network.
