Why we cannot get full storage in pen drive, memory card, hard disk etc?

Hello friends,

This post is an special post for everyone because today i am going to talk about storage capacity problems in your hard disk, pendrive, memory cards etc.
Many of peoples thinking about storage capacity loss in pendrives, memory cards etc.
When they buy storage devices in specification of that device mentioned that this devices has 8GB, 16 GB ,32 GB etc storage but we get only 7.45GB, 14.9GB, 29.8GB etc of storage .To study that first we have to study some basics about storage.

According to operating system:

8 bit = 1 bytes
1024 bytes = 1 kilobytes
1024 kilobytes = 1 Megabytes
1024 Megabytes = 1 Gigabytes
1024 Gigabyte = 1 Terabytes

According to manufacturer's :

8 bit = 1 bytes
1000 bytes = 1 kilobytes
1000 kilobytes = 1 Megabytes
1000 Megabytes = 1 Gigabytes
1000 Gigabyte = 1 Terabytes
Let's take an example you have purchased 32 GB pendrive
   Here, 32 GB = 32000000000 bytes (According to manufacturer's )
1GB= 1024 ×1024×1024 = 1073741824 bytes ( According to OS )
Actual memory capacity= 32000000000/1073741824 = 29.8 GB
Hence, According to OS calculation the memory capacity is less than Manufacturer's capacity.
I hope you will understood concept of memory capacity. If you think this post helps you then don't forget to share with your friends so that they can also understand this concept & also don't follow or subscribe my blog so that you can receive each & every post notification.
