What is PCB? Types of PCBs
Hello friends,
> PCB stands for "Printed Circuit Board". It consists of conductive track pads which connects the electronic components.
One sided of PCB is coated with any conducting material generally copper is used because copper is good conductor of electricity. A single sided PCB is known as single layer PCB. This type of PCB are simple & it is mostly used PCB because this PCBs is easy to design and manufacture.
A solder mask is used to protect PCBs from oxidation. In this type of PCBs only one side is used to connect electronic components. It has low cost as compare to other types of PCBs. This PCBs are used in Calculators, Radios, solid state drive etc.
Both top and bottom side of PCB is coated with coductinco material like copper. Double sided PCB is also known as Double layer PCB. The electronic components are connected through holes. This type of PCB are more flexible
The major advantage of this PCBs is to reduced size & it makes circuit compact. This PCBs are used in industrial controls, phones, amplifiers etc.
This type of PCBs has more than two layer that means it has minimum three layer. For securing the board glue is sandwiched between layer of insulation which protects circuit from damage which is caused by excess heat.
This types of PCBs are very complex & used in large electronic task at very low space & these PCBs are more compact then double sided or double layer PCBs. These PCBs are usesd in GPS technology, satellite system, medical equipment, file servers , data storage etc.
This type of PCB used polyamide, Polyether ether ketone (PEEK), or transparent conductive material. Flexible PCB is also known as Flex circuit. It is very complex PCB & it also has different types i.e single sided, double side and multi sided flexible PCBs
This PCBs are used in LCD fabrication, Flex solar cell, cellular telephones, light emitting diode (LED), camera & complex electronic devices like laptops.
This PCBs are made up of solid material which stops PCB from twisting or folding. This rigid PCBs are of three types i.e single sided, double sided and multi sided rigid PCBs.
Life span of this PCBs is very high. It is simple to design & it is one of most manufacturing PCBs in single sided PCBs. This PCBs are used to make RAM, GPU and CPU of computer, laptops & smartphones.
This PCB consist of flexible and rigid both PCBs. This PCBs are mostly manufacturing PCBs. This ype of PCBs are used in cell phones, digital cameras and automobiles etc.
