On 3rd April 2019, A British automaker company has unveiled its iSMART Next Gen platform that will debut in India with the MG Hector, its upcoming compact SUV. Showcasing the smart car platform at media event in Delhi. the company said that MG Hector will be India's fist Internet enabled car with features like Over The Air (OTA) software updates and more. 👉Details of MG Hector's smart car platform:
MG Hector has 10.4 inch touch screen head unit and a voice assistant which is developed by Nuance, the company says that the voice assistant is specially designed for India, and it is well trained to understand Indian accent. The voice assistant activated with a voice input as "Hello MG". This voice assistant is capable to understand over 100 commands that will help you to performs some basic task like open and close windows and the sunroof, control air conditioning system, navigation and more.
You would expect, the assistance which is optimized to work even under poor network condition. This system get upgraded over time with the help of Artificial intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML). Powering connectivity for the MG Hector will be an embedded SIM, using a solution that's been developed by unlimit in partnership with Cisco and Airtel. The Internet enable SIM will also ensure that the Hector will receive OTA Software updates just like a modern smartphone. With the help of OTA updates company can add more features over the time.
Navigation in MG Hector will be powered by TomTom, and unlike most built-in navigation systems, your maps will actually get updated without the need to visit a service center,
👉 iSmart Mobile Application:
For the overall all monitoring of your car, company will provide iSmart mobile application in which you can monitor your car status like, Tyre pressure and location of your car. This app will give you alert if you forget to lock your car doors and lock the doors with the help of iSmart app. The app will provide notification of each and every car servicing schedule and also keep track of all car service history.
Other features include the ability to geo fence your MG hector, so it cannot be taken out over a predefined zone. The platform is capable of analyzing your driving style and give data points that will help you drive safe.
👉Safety features of MG Hector:
There are other safety features and convenience features as well, like Emergency call (Ecall) system that can alert emergency contacts and the relevent authorities in case the car's airbags get deployed. A helpline that will direct you to nearby restaurants and other services will be accessible to MG Hector customers with a tap on giant touch screen.
Built in partnership with a host of companies that all made an appearance at the event, the smart car platform will be one of big highlights of the MG Hector potentially giving it an edge over the competition like Jeep Compass and Tata Harrier.
